Men's Golf Second at Shelter Harbor
Sophomore Daniel Morgan is currently third at the Shelter Harbor Classic.
The Central Connecticut men's golf team finished round one of the Classic at Shelter Harbor in second place with a score of 298. Sophomore Daniel Morgan was the Blue Devils top golfer on the day, he finished tied for fourth. The event was hosted by the University of Rhode Island at the Shelter Harbor golf club.
Morgan led the Blue Devil squad by shooting a 72 in the first round. His score was one-over on the par 71, 6,695 yard Shelter Harbor course. Morgan is currently two strokes off of the leader, James Pleat of Dartmouth.
Junior William Finnerty finished the round in a tie for 8th with a score of 73. Senior Dan Fanion shot a 76, to tie for 23rd and freshman Monte Mullen's 77 earned him a share of 27th. Senior Kevin Josephson was the fifth Central golfer in the tournament he shot an 80 in the opening round and sits in a tie for 50th.
Dartmouth College is currently leading the tournament with a team score of 291. Connecticut, Columbia and Yale are right behind Central in third, fourth and fifth, respectively. Of the 15 teams competing, only Dartmouth, Central and Connecticut posted scores under 300 strokes for the day.
The tournament will conclude with the final round tomorrow.
