Men's Golf 10th After Day One at Turning Stone
Central shoots round two 289 to move into 10th place
The Central Connecticut men's golf team opened the 2011-12 season on Sunday, playing the first two rounds at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate Golf Tournament in Verona, NY. The Blue Devils stand in 10th place out of 14 teams heading into the final day of action on Monday. The two-day tournament is hosted by the University of Missouri.
Senior Kevin Josephson paced Central on Sunday, shooting a two-round score of 142 (-2), including a second round 68 on Sunday.
As a team the Blue Devils shot 308 in the first round, and followed that up with an impressive 289 in the second round, an improvement of 19 strokes. They stand in 10th place. The 289 in the second round was the ninth best (out of 28 total rounds) team round on the day.
Baylor leads the 14-team field and is -13 under after the two rounds. Baylor was one of five teams to finish the first two rounds under par as a team.
Jospehson's round of 68 followed a first round score of 74, putting him at 142 (-2) and in a tie for 11th place overall. His round of 68 was the fourth-best round of any golfer on the day.
Dan Fanion is tied for 23rd place after shooting 145 (+1). He shot a first round 72 and a second round 73. Monte Mullen is tied for 34th with a 149, while Daniel Morgan shot a 161 and Ashley Crawford shot a 166 on the first day of action.
Tee times for Sunday's final round begin at 7:30 a.m.
