Volleyball Falls at Home to Saint Francis U on Saturday
The Blue Devils played their second of four straight home matches.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team was swept by Saint Francis U, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Detrick Gymnasium. The Blue Devils were led by Lauren Milani and Victoria Sanabria with five kills each as the match had just three lead changes.
The Blue Devils will host LIU on Friday evening.

KEY MOMENTS
- The first set was tied at 6-6 before SFU scored three straight and went ahead 9-6 following an ace to take the lead in the set for good. CCSU would get within 17-13, but no closer as the Red Flash went ahead 1-0 in the match.
- Saint Francis built a 12-2 lead in the second set after scoring seven straight. The Blue Devils did not score consecutive points until Weronika Poczynek served back to back points to make it 24-9.
- Mia Lombardo opened the third set with a kill to put CCSU ahead, but SFU would score the next four points to go ahead. The Blue Devils were within, 9-4 following an error, but six straight points pushed the Red Flash cushion to double-digits. A kill by Lauren Milani and an ace from Victoria Sanabria cut the deficit to 18-13. SFU pushed the lead back to 22-14 and would close the match out at 25-17.
NUMBER TO KNOW
2 – The Blue Devils had two service aces, their fewest since September 22 against LIU, also two.
NOTES
- CCSU has dropped the last four meetings with SFU since winning the previous 10 in a row.
- Lauren Milani and Victoria Sanabria led Central with five kills each. Milani added a team-high 10 digs, while Sanabria had five total blocks.
- Madison Massaro-Cook had 10 assists..
