
Volleyball Shutout by Saint Francis U on Saturday
The Blue Devils close the regular season with two home matches next weekend
The Central Connecticut volleyball team fell at Saint Francis U on Saturday in Northeast Conference action in Loretto, PA. The Blue Devils had a two-game win streak ended with the setback.
The Blue Devils return home next weekend to host Merrimack on Friday.

KEY MOMENTS
- CCSU took a 3-0 led following a kill by Isabelle Roufs in the opening set. Central would lead again at 13-10 following a kill by Lauren Milani, but the Red Flash would use a run of four points to go ahead 16-14. The set was tied at 18-18 before SFU ran off four straight points to go ahead for good enroute to taking the opening set.
- The Blue Devils would score the opening three points in the second set and led by as much as 6-2. SFU would score four straight to go ahead, 9-7, and although CCSU managed to tie it 10-10 after a Isabella Bratzke kill, the Red Flash would not trail again. SFU scored six in a row to go ahead 23-16 before finishing out the set.
- SFU scored the first three points and did not trail in the third set. CCSU would tie the set at 7-7 after a kill by Bratzke and an SFU error, but the Red Flash scored back-to-back points to regain the lead and would not allow CCSU to score consecutive points again enroute to winning the match.
NUMBER TO KNOW
3 – The teams combined for just three service aces and just three receiving errors.
NOTES
- The Red Flash have won the past five meetings.
- Weronika Poczynek led CCSU with 10 kills, while adding six digs.
- Kylee Baranski had 15 assists and a team-high seven digs.
- Bratzke, Mia Lombardo and Victoria Sanabria each had a block for Central.
