Volleyball Drops 3-1 Decision at Robert Morris
Blue Devils will play at St. Francis U on Sunday
The Central Connecticut volleyball team dropped to 8-13 overall and 4-5 in Northeast Conference play with a 3-1 loss on the road at Robert Morris on Saturday. The Blue Devils will be in action again on Sunday at St. Francis University beginning at 1 p.m.
The Blue Devils came out strong winning the first set 25-20, but the Colonials rebounded to take the final three sets to move to 11-15 overall and 9-1 in league action this season. RMU won the final three sets 25-15, 25-21 and 25-23.
Junior Makenna Lommori again led the offensive attack for the Blue Devils, posting 16 kills in the four set match. Senior Rachel Dunlap added 11 kills while freshman Nicole Celarek had nine.
Junior Ashley Lennington paced the offense with 40 assists, while adding 11 digs. Sophomore Rachel Fish led the defense with 16 digs. Sophomore Brooke Schwab added 11, as did senior Brittany Schumacher. Dunlap had two block solos and seven block assists. Schwab and Lommori each added five block assists i the match.
The Blue Devils return to action on Sunday at St. Francis U at 1 p.m. Next weekend they return home to host St. Francis Brooklyn on Nov. 8 and LIU Brooklyn on Nov. 9. The match vs. the Blackbirds will also be Senior Day as the Blue Devils play at home for the final time in 2014.
