Volleyball Sweeps Quinnipiac
The Central Connecticut volleyball team defeated Quinnipiac on Sunday afternoon.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team finished the regular season with a three set victory over Quinnipiac on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils (17-12, 12-4 NEC) were led by senior Blaike King's eight kills.
The Blue Devils earned a 25-18 victory in the first set by connecting for nine kills on 21 attacks with just one attack error. Senior Emily Cochran was the only Blue Devil to record multiple kills in the set. CCSU also had 2.5 blocks in the set with sophomore Rachel Dunlap contributing two.
CCSU carried the momentum into the second set and won 25-11. King led the squad in the second set with four. Senior Jamie Rademacher contributed three kills and two blocks in the set.
In the third set, Central closed out the match behind three more kills from King. Senior Jennifer Waddill and Rademacher each contributed a pair of kills in the set.
As a team the Blue Devils posted 32 kills and six blocks. Central's hitters were efficient in the match recording a .311 hitting percentage.
Freshman Makenna Lommori had a match-high 23 assists and senior Allyson Porter contributed a match-high 13 digs.
Dunlap led the team at the net with four blocks in the match.
King (8), Rademacher (6), Cochran (5), freshman Heather Trueman (5), Waddill (3), Dunlap (2) and Lommori (2) all contributed kills in the match.
The Blue Devils finish the regular season third in the Northeast Conference and will be the #3 seed in next weekend's NEC Tournament. The tournament will be hosted by #1 seed and regular season champion LIU Brooklyn. Robert Morris will be the #2 seed and Saint Francis (PA) will be the #4 seed. The Blue Devils will face Robert Morris on the first day of the single elimination tournament.
