Volleyball Wins, 13 Kills for Rademacher
The Central Connecticut volleyball team earned a three set victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team swept Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday afternoon to improve to 9-2 in Northeast Conference play. The Blue Devils held off the Knights in an exciting 29-27 third set to earn their third consecutive sweep victory.
Central (13-10, 9-2 NEC) built an 18-10 lead in the third set, but FDU rallied and tied the set at 22-22. The Knights (8-15, 4-6) were actually able to take the lead, 27-26, but the Blue Devils answered with three straight points to win the set, 29-27.
CCSU won its first two sets 25-18 and 25-10.
Rademacher recorded her 13 kills on 18 attacks and made only two errors. She hit .611 for the match and contributed a pair of assists. Senior Emily Cochran also had 13 kills in the match and shared the team lead with Rademacher. Senior Blaike King (9), sophomore Rachel Dunlap (6) and freshman Makenna Lommori (4) also contributed to the Blue Devils' 49 kills and .419 hitting percentage.
Defensively, the Blue Devils posted eight blocks with Rademacher and Lommori leading the squad. Rademacher assisted on five blocks, while Lommori assisted on three and had two solo blocks.
Senior Allyson Porter recorded 12 of her career-high 16 digs in the third set. Porter led the team in digs with sophomore Brittany Schumacher contributing nine and eight other Blue Devils posting at least one dig.
Lommori had 37 assists in the match and contributed one of the Blue Devils seven service aces. Freshman Ashley Lenington was responsible for three of the aces.
The Blue Devils have won nine consecutive sets and three straight matches to improve to 9-2 in the NEC.
The Blue Devils will go on the road to play at St. Francis (PA) and Robert Morris this week.
