Volleyball Wins, 5-1 in NEC Play
The Central Connecticut volleyball team is now 5-1 in Northeast Conference play this season.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team defeated Bryant in four sets on Saturday evening. The Blue Devils fell in the opening set, but rebounded to capture three straight games to win the match. Senior Jamie Rademacher led the offense with 15 kills and a .560 hitting percentage.
The Blue Devils (10-9, 5-1 NEC) dropped a back-and-forth first set to the Bulldogs (6-14, 0-4 NEC) by a score of 25-23.
CCSU rebounded for a 27-25 victory in the second game behind three kills each from Rademacher and freshman Makenna Lommori. Both players hit .667 for the set and Lommori also contributed 11 assists. Senior Emily Cochran and Lommori both had a team-high four digs in the set.
The Blue Devils carried the momentum of the extra-points victory into the third set, which they won 26-24. Rademacher recorded five kills in the set and also contributed to one of the Blue Devils' two blocks. Sophomore Brittany Schumacher was all over the court in the third game, she recorded 11 digs.
Rademacher continued her strong play in the fourth set posting seven kills and a .700 hitting percentage. Sophomore Rachel Dunlap was the only other Blue Devil to record multiple kills in the set with three. Dunlap also had a solo block and chipped in on another of CCSU's three blocks.
Rademacher finished with a match-high 15 kills on 25 attacks. With just one attack error she posted a match-high .560 hitting percentage. Rademacher also contributed a pair of blocks in the match.
Lommori posted a match-high 45 assists. She also contributed six kills, nine digs and two blocks.
Defensively, Schumacher finished with a team-high 23 digs. Senior Blaike King and Lommori posed nine digs, while Cochran and senior Allyson Porter each had seven.
The Blue Devils will return to action tomorrow when they host Quinnipiac at Detrick Gym. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
