Bardes Named United Soccer Coaches Women's Soccer Scholar All-Region

Junior Erica Bardes of the Central Connecticut women's soccer team was named to the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-East Region Second Team it was announced Monday afternoon. Bardes played in every contest for the Blue Devils this season and scored the winning goal in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to upset Rutgers. The junior defender was named to the Scholar All-America Second Team.

Bardes has posted a 3.92 GPA as a Secondary Education major. The Montvale, N.J. native was an All-NEC First Team Selection and named to the United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Second Team. Bardes was the only player to start in all 22 contest helping Central earn its 10th NEC Title and first NCAA Tournament win since 2003. She finished second on the team in points (18) posting five goals and eight assists.
Bardes joins the list of Blue Devils to earn academic All-America honors including Charlotte Maurer (2018) and Sabrina Mariani (2003, 2004).
Central women's soccer finished the season 13-5-4 earning back-to-back NEC Championships and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Bardes and the CCSU defense finished with seven shutouts and never lost a match in New Britain (9-0-1).
