Women's Soccer to Face Sacred Heart in NEC Semifinal Friday
CCSU will host the NEC Tournament for the second straight year.
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team enters the 2019 Northeast Conference Tournament as the top seeded team, earning its third NEC regular season championship in the past four years. The Blue Devils enter the postseason with a 10-4-4 record overall and 8-1-1 in conference. The team has allowed just six goals from NEC opponents and never loss a home match going 7-0-1 in New Britain this year. CCSU heads into Friday's semifinal against fourth-seeded Sacred Heart (9-7-2, 6-3-1 NEC).
Second-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson will take on third-seeded Bryant on Friday at 4 p.m. in the second semifinal match. Friday's winners will play for the league championship on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. All games of the 2019 NEC Women's Soccer Tournament will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and NEC Front Row. Tickets will be available the day of the event at CCSU Soccer Field. Ticket prices are $6 for adults, $3 from senior citizens and children between the ages of 11-18. Children under the age of 11 and NEC students with an institutional I.D. will be admitted free.

TOURNAMENT NOTES
Against SHU: The Blue Devils beat the Pioneers in the final match of the regular season to earn the regular season title. CCSU is 3-1-2 against Sacred Heart in NEC Tournament play. The Blue Devils defeated SHU 3-0 in the 2016 Semifinals hosted by Saint Francis U. Central holds a 18-6-5 advantage in the series history.
To Date: Central Connecticut is 12-6 in semifinal contests and 21-9 all-time in NEC Tournament play. CCSU has nine NEC Championships and had eight consecutive NEC Tournament appearances back in 2002-2010.
The Field: CCSU is 5-1-2 in the tournament all-time against the 2019 field of teams in the NEC Tournament (SHU: 3-1-2 FDU: 2-0 Bryant: 0-0-0). Central has never faced Bryant in the NEC Tournament. The New Britain squad is 1-1-1 this season against Sacred Heart, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Bryant.
Home Field Advantage: In the six times CCSU has hosted the NEC Tournament, they have won the title five times ('97, '98, '02, '05, '18). Five of their nine championships have been won in New Britain.
