Blue Devils Open Conference Play at Bryant Friday
Central enters conference play with an overall record of 2-2-3.
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team opens Northeast Conference play at Bryant on Friday, Sept. 20 at 3 p.m. in Smithfield, RI. The Blue Devils are currently 2-2-3 on the season and have their final non-conference match Sunday, Sept. 22 at Yale.
The defending 2018 NEC Champions went undefeated in conference play last season, defeating the Bulldogs 2-1. Central has won seven of the 10 total meetings between the two schools.
CCSU is coming off two double-overtime matches including a 1-1 tie against Siena and 0-0 tie against Seton Hall. The teams have had two mutual opponents with CCSU defeating both Iona and Maine, while the Bulldogs split beating Iona and losing to Maine. Six different Blue Devils have scored goals so far this season, led by sophomore Roma McLaughlin who has four goals on the year and leads the NEC. Freshman Giavanna Inzerillo is the only other Central player to register more than one goal, with two on the season. In the net, sophomore Amanda McQuillan has played six of the seven matches, totaling 29 saves and a .806 save percentage and posting one shutout.
Bryant enters Friday's match with an overall 3-3-1 record and 1-0 conference record. The Bulldogs defeated NEC opponent Merrimack 3-1 on Sept. 9. The team has scored at least two goals in its past three matches, going 2-0-1 in the last three games. Lexi Kraemer ties for first in the NEC in game-winning goals with two. In the net, Meghan Dalton has played all seven matches for Bryant, totaling a 1.24 goals-against average and a .809 save percentage on the season.
