Pair of Women's Soccer Players Earn Soccer Buzz Regional Honors
Junior forward Rachel Caneen and sophomore midfielder Clio Tregear continued to garner post-season honors for the women's soccer team last week. The pair were named to the Soccer Buzz All-Northeast Region Third Team following an outstanding season in New Britain. The Blue Devils finished the season 12-7-4 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in seven seasons after winning the 2008 Northeast Conference Championship.

Tregear continued to garner post-season honors for the women's
soccer team last week. The pair were named to the Soccer Buzz
All-Northeast Region Third Team following an outstanding season in
New Britain. The Blue Devils finished the season 12-7-4 and
advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in seven seasons
after winning the 2008 Northeast Conference Championship.
Caneen led the Blue Devils in scoring this season with 12 goals and
three assists, good for 27 points. She also led the team in
scoring as a sophomore and moved into fourth place all-time with 24
career goals. She was also named All-Conference this season for
the Blue Devils.
Tregear, a captain for this year's team, appeared in and started
all 23 Central Connecticut contests. Also a first team
All-Northeast Conference honoree, Tregear finished third on the
team in goals and points. Earlier this year she was named
All-Region by the NSCAA. She scored six times and had four assists
for a total of 19 points. Tregear was also a second team All-NEC
pick in 2007.
The Blue Devils ended their season with an NCAA Tournament first
round loss at Boston College. It followed CCSU's fifth NEC
Championship in seven seasons. The pair are the first Blue Devils
to be honored by Soccer Buzz since the 2005 season.
