Senior Erin Herd Posts Third Straight Shutout in 0-0 Draw at Navy on Sunday
Senior goalkeeper Erin Herd posted her third straight shutout on Sunday in a double overtime 0-0 draw at the Naval Academy. It marked the senior's fourth shutout of the season as she runs her scoreless streak to 360:05 dating back to a win at UConn two weeks ago. The Blue Devils are now 2-1-3 on the season after the tie and play again on Friday hosting Holy Cross at 5 p.m. on the CCSU Soccer Field.

marked the senior's fourth shutout of the season as she runs her
scoreless streak to 360:05 dating back to a win at UConn two weeks
ago. The Blue Devils are now 2-1-3 on the season after the tie and
play again on Friday hosting Holy Cross at 5 p.m. on the CCSU
Soccer Field.
Herd has now allowed just one goal this season in five total games
and over 500:00 of action. She now has nine shutouts in her Blue
Devil career.
The Blue Devils held a 15-10 advantage in shots in the game and a
7-4 edge in shots on goal. Navy goalkeeper Lizzie Barnes stopped
all seven Central Connecticut shots to move Navy to 2-2-1 on the
season.
Navy outshot the Blue Devils 10-9 during regulation but it was CCSU
that held a 6-0 edge in shots during the two overtime periods.
Barnes made a pair of saves, one in each overtime session, to
preserve the 0-0 tie. It marks the third 0-0 double overtime draw
for CCSU this season including one at Hartford and another on
Friday vs. Delaware.
Herd has been in goal for all three of those contests.
Central Connecticut returns to action on Friday in its 2008 home
opener hosting Holy Cross at 5 p.m. on the CCSU Soccer Field.
