Blue Devils Open Northeast Conference Play with Loss at St. Francis (PA)
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team opened Northeast Conference play this afternoon with a 2-0 loss on the road at St. Francis (PA). With the loss the Blue Devils move to 3-4-4 overall and 0-1 in league play. Senior goalkeeper Erin Herd made four saves in net for CCSU on the afternoon.

Conference play this afternoon with a 2-0 loss on the road at St.
Francis (PA). With the loss the Blue Devils move to 3-4-4 overall
and 0-1 in league play. Senior goalkeeper Erin Herd made four
saves in net for CCSU on the afternoon.
The Blue Devils outshot the Red Flash 8-6 in shots on goal but were
unable to find the back of the net for the second straight game.
St. Francis (PA) goalkeeper Jessica Boyer made eight saves in goal
to record the shutout for the Red Flash.
St. Francis (PA) took a 1-0 lead at 39:23 on the first half on a
goal by Alanna Vespa, her third goal of the season. She took a
touch pass off the toe of Traci Flick from seven yards out and beat
Herd for the 1-0 lead.
Vespa scored her second goal of the game at 68:11 in the second
half. She took the shot from 20 yards out and it bounced in front
of Herd and over her head into the net for the two goal
advantage.
Both teams had 12 total shots in the game and the Red Flash had the
advantage in corner kicks, 4-2.
CCSU returns to action on Sunday continuing its Pennsylvania NEC
road swing with a match at Robert Morris at 12 p.m.
