Williams Jr Breaks Hurdles Record as Blue Devils Take Fourth at UMass
The Central Connecticut men's track and field team tallied 66 points and placed fourth out of eleven teams in the UMass Flagship Opener in Amherst on Sunday.
The Central Connecticut men's track and field team tallied 66 points and placed fourth out of eleven teams in the UMass Flagship Opener in Amherst on Sunday.
Track:
- Edward Williams Jr broke his school record in the 110mH with a time of 13.96 and placed first in the event. Williams Jr also placed sixth in the 200m dash with a time of 21.79.
- Kenny Agwu placed seventh in the 110mH posting a time of 15.56. Agwu also placed eighth (57.94) in the 400mH.
- Noah Colangelo took seventh in the 200m dash (21.80).
- Jacob Ireland and Gabriel Kwarteng finished second (1:52.75) and third (1:52.82) in the 800m. Christian Malave took tenth with a time of 1:56.48.
- Alex Meisenkothen took sixth in the 400mH with a time of 57.36.
- Steven Baah-Mensah (7th, 9:57.69) and Joe Lauria (10th, 10:15.74) took top 10 finishes in the 3000m steeplechase.
- Jacob Ireland posted a 3:52.97 mark in the 1500m run to place second. James Sullivan took seventh (3:55.36).
- The Blue Devils' three top-ten finishers in the 400m consisted of Maxwell Czarnecki (5th, 50.24), Cole Robertson (8th, 50.67), and KyMoy Phillip (9th, 50.75).
- Tristan Burke placed sixth in the 100m dash with a time of 10.75.
- The 4x100m relay team consisting of Tristan Burke, Edward Williams Jr, Maxwell Czarnecki, and Noah Colangelo finished second with a time of 42.28.
- The 4x400 relay team consisting of Kymoy Phillip, Maxwell Czarnecki, Noah Colangelo, and Gabriel Kwarteng took second place (3:17.75).
Field:
- Nicolai Yanko took first place for the Blue Devils in the high jump with a 1.95m mark.
- First-year Kolby Quinn placed eighth in the long jump with a 6.32m jump.
- The Blue Devils took three of the top eight spots in the javelin. Logan Ratcliff (51.06m), Alex Heron (51.03m), and Jackson Decker (50.66m) took fifth, sixth, and seventh for their team.
- Tyrone Mack placed seventh in the hammer throw with a 51.17m mark.
