After competing at the URI Invitational this weekend, in Kingston, Jacob Ireland was named the Northeast Conference's Track Athlete of the Week.
Jacob Ireland was named Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this indoor track season. Ireland opened his indoor season with a first-place finish in the 800m (1:56.72) and a second-place finish in the mile (4:10.68).
Ireland claimed his second NEC Track Athlete of the Week honor of the new year after a stellar performance at the URI Invitational. The senior distance runner won the mile at the meet with a time of 4:14.29 and ran to a fourth-place finish in the 800 meters, clocking in at 1:56.02. Ireland's 800m time is the best in the conference, while his mile mark sits at fourth in the NEC. The 4:10.68 mile he ran on January 5 is the top time in the NEC.
Edward Williams was also named as an NEC Prime Performer for his performance at the URI Invitational, Williams Jr. won the 60m hurdles clocking in at 7.98, which is the second-best time in the league. He also recorded a 6.91 in the 60m prelims, which ranks third in the NEC.
The Bue Devils are back in action Friday the 26th at the BU Terrier Invite @ Boston University.
