Men's Track Lands Three Top Finishers at URI Invitational on Saturday
The Central Connecticut men's track team dominated with 22 top-10 finishers in the URI Invitational in North Kingston, RI on Saturday.
The Central Connecticut men's track team competed in the URI Invitational in North Kingston, RI on Saturday. They grabbed 22 top-10 and three top finishers at the Invite.
- Jacob Ireland took first place in the mile with an impressive time of 4:14.29. In the 800m run, Ireland placed 4th (1:56.02). Ireland also finished 4th in the 800m run (1:56.02).
- First-year Maxwell Czarnecki took home first place in the 400m dash. KyMoy Phillip finished second behind Czarnecki in the 400m dash with a time of 51.47. Jonathan Orlando placed 5th (52.39) and Cole Robertson took 6th (52.40).
- Edward Williams Jr. placed first in the 60m hurdles with a run of 7.98 seconds. Williams Jr also ran a 6.98 60m dash and finished in 5th for Central Connecticut.
- Tristan Burke placed 6th in the 60m dash with a time of 7.0.
- Aiden Budge (1:58.11) finished 7th and Gabriel Kwarteng placed 10th (1:59.34) in the 800-meter run.
- Yankarlos Diaz ran a 4:20.43 mile and finished 4th for his team.
- Steven Baah-Mensah finished in 4th (2:32.74) while Christ Abbey took 5th (2:33.44), and Jeremy Courtar took 8th (2:37.71) respectively in the 1000-meter run.
- The Blue Devils had three runners take home top 10 marks in the 3000-meter run. Andrew Hedges (8:59.85) took 5th place, Nicholas Fusco finished 6th (9:02.12), and Calvin Young placed 9th (9:10.80).
- The Central Connecticut relay team consisting of Chris Abbey, Carter Harris, Israel Caro IV, and Steven Baah-Mensah took home 4th place in the 4x800m race (8:07.33).
- CCSU placed second in the 4x400 (3:26.78).
- Tyrone Mack took 3rd place in the shot put for The Blue Devils (50-06.25).
- Logan Moore finished 7th in the pole vault for the Blue Devils(4.10m).
