Women's Golf 8th, Farnum Tied for 7th in Jacksonville
Farnum sits in a tie for 7th place overall
The Central Connecticut women's golf team stands in eighth place out of 11 teams after the first day of the Butler's Benbow Collegiate Tournament being played in Jacksonville, FL on Monday. Day two will take place on Tuesday.
The Blue Devils shot a day one score of 350 at the Jacksonville Beach Country Club (Par-72) on Monday, and sit 24 strokes off of tournament leader Cleveland State University. They are just six shots out of sixth place in the 11-team field. The Blue Devils finished the first round with the third-best score on the par-3 holes. As a squad Central was +9 with a stroke average of 3.45, behind only Newberry and Evansville.
Newberry College is second (333), followed by Alabama State (334), IUPUI (335), Butler (339), Valparaiso (345), Western Illinois (348) and then CCSU. Following the Blue Devils are Evansville (358), Eastern Illinis (362) and Savannah State (400).
Junior Albrianna Farnum leads the Blue Devils and sits in a tie for seventh place overall after a day one total of 82 (37-45).
Freshman Ella Williams is tied for 22nd place after a score of 86 (44-42), followed by classmate Kaitlyn Stoddart in a tie for 27th at 87 (46-41). Sophomore Sarah Boden is tied for 53rd place after a 95 (49-46) on the first day. Senior Nicole Pizzoferrato is in 62nd place after a 104 (52-52).
The Blue Devils will play the second round of the tournament on Tuesday, teeing off in the late morning.
