Ludwig Adds One for Fall 2014
Cecy Gutierrez will join the CCSU women's golf squad in the fall of 2014.
The Central Connecticut women's golf team announced its most recent addition to the squad: Cecy Gutierrez will be joining the team in the fall of 2014.
Gutierrez is a native of Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico and currently attends the Instituto Alpes of Torreon.
"The passion that comes across when Cecy talks about golf is simply captivating," Head Coach Carly Ludwig said. "She is the kind of player that reiterates the reason why I love my job and I am truly honored to welcome Cecy to the Blue Devil family."
Gutierrez recently qualified for the LIII Campeonato Nacional Interzonas Infantil - Juvenil in Guadalajara, Mexico to represent the North Zone team. The team finished in fifth place. In July, she finished second in the Torneo Anual Campestre Saltillo, posting round scores of 75, 80 and 77. She also won the second stage of the North Zone Regional tour in October of 2013.
In 2011, Gutierrez was chosen to represent her state in La Olimpiada Nacional 2011, the National Junior Olympics. She was also ranked 12th nationally in the 14/15 category.
Gutierrez is currently ranked third in her class academically and has been elected to represent her school nationally in math and short story writing in both 2012 and 2013. She speaks English, Spanish and French.
