Dana Wins NEC Athlete of the Week
Senior runner Ashley Dana represented the Blue Devils in this week's Northeast Conference Awards, taking home Athlete of the Week honors as well as being named a NEC Prime Performer.
Senior runner Ashley Dana represented the Blue Devils in this week's Northeast Conference Awards, taking home Athlete of the Week honors as well as being named a NEC Prime Performer for the second time this season.
Dana was named Athlete of the Week thanks to an impressive showing in the Blue Devils first home meet of the season at the CCSU Ted Owen Invitational at Stanley Quarter Park.
The senior was in the lead group for the entire race and shed the runner-up in the final mile. She finished with a time of 18:01, beating out 157 other competitors. Dana has now won both individual races the Blue Devils have taken part in this fall.
Brooke Morabito, Kaitlyn Stevens, and Rebecca Carusone were also named to the NEC Prime Performers list. Morabito finished 7th (18:17) followed by Stevens in 13th (18:50) and Carusone in 15th (18:55).
The women's cross country team will be back in action on Saturday, October 8th for the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts.
