14 th Annual Ray and Robin Crothers Cross Country Challenge Set For Campus Race September 25
Two-mile race will take place on campus, beginning at the track
The annual cross country race honoring Ray Crothers, a legendary Blue Devil student athlete, and his wife Robin will be run on the Central Connecticut campus on September 25. The event, now in its 14th year, recognizes the multitude of achievements Crothers earned at Central and beyond. All donations and fees from the race will benefit the men's and women's cross country and track and field teams.
Registration for the race can be done online, here, and is complete with the donation made. Recommended donation is $25 (Current CCSU students $5 donation).
The race has morphed from a cross-country race to a 2-Mile stroller-friendly course on the Central Connecticut State University campus in New Britain, CT, featuring sidewalks, asphalt and rubberized oval track surfaces that are wide, easy on the legs and baby stroller friendly.
The traditional kids race will also be held once again and featured on the stadium track..
Crothers was named an All-American in cross country while running for the Blue Devils in 1963, ran as a captain of the team in '63, '64 and '65 and had first place wins in three divisions at the Manchester Road Race. He was inducted into the CCSU Hall of Fame in 1983.
