Women's Cross Country Defends NEC Title for the Fifth Year in a Row

Women's cross country defended it's title for the fifth year in a row, seventh of all-time, and were crowned Northeast Conference Champions on Friday at B & D Acres Farms in Tyrone, PA. 

MEET INFORMATION 

  • 2022 Northeast Conference Championship 

  • Team Score: 1st of 9 (47 points) 

  • Location: B&D Acres Farms – Tyrone, PA 

KEY MOMENTS 

  • The Blue Devils had two finishers in the top five, and five in the top 15. 

  • Ashley Dana was the first Blue Devil to cross the finish line, taking second place, with a time of 17:51.6. Dana hung with LIU's Ainhoa Brea, who won the race in a time of 17:31.4, for the first several minutes of the race, setting the pace for the Blue Devils. 

  • Brooke Morabito snagged third place with a time of 18:02.6, securing two spots in the top five for CCSU. 

  • The next group of Blue Devils to finish included Kaitlyn Stevens (18:47.3), Maegan Desmarais (18:49.8), and Rebecca Carusone (18:50.9). The three were able to finish within the top 15, placing 13th, 14th, and 15th respectively. 

NOTES 

  • This is the program's seventh NEC Championship, and their fifth in a row. 

  • Dana and Morabito each had sub six-minute mile paces. 

  • Four CCSU runners, including Dana, Morabito, Stevens, and Desmarais, placed within the top 14, earning all-conference honors.
