Volleyball Hosts CCSU Invitational to Open Season
Blue Devils will face Iona, Fordham and Lehigh in season-opening tournament.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team opens the 2016 season in Detrick Gymnasium with the CCSU Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Blue Devils will play Iona on Friday at 4 p.m. to open the two-day tournament, while Lehigh and Fordham will play at 7 p.m. The event will continue with four matches on Saturday.

Central was tabbed fifth in the preseason Northeast Conference coaches poll and head coach Linda Sagnelli will begin her 17th season at the helm. The Blue Devils return a veteran roster with five seniors. Central's returnees include senior Rachel Fish, who led the team with 380 digs and 24 aces in 2015, senior Brooke Schwab, who had a team-high 93 blocks, and sophomore Raquel Quirarte, who led the team with 221 kills in 2015.
