DeLancey Earns Third NEC Honor
Senior keeper Erin DeLancey stopped 22 shots last week to be named NEC Defensive Player of the Week.
Senior goalkeeper Erin DeLancey has been named Northeast Conference defensive player of the week for the third time this season. The conference office made the announcement in its weekly lacrosse release on Monday afternoon. DeLancey led the Blue Devils to a pair of victories last week at Arute Field.
DeLancey limited the Blackbirds of LIU Brooklyn to six goals in an 18-6 victory on Friday afternoon. She followed that by holding Wagner to seven goals in a 14-7 win on Sunday. For the week, DeLancey averaged 6.5 goals allowed, while making 22 saves.
DeLancey's five victories this season increase her career total to 17, a program record.
In 2012, DeLancey has posted a 49.7% save mark. She has allowed just one more goal (83) than she has saves (82).
The Central defense, led by DeLancey, has held opponents to single-digit point totals six times this year. At home, the Blue Devils are 4-0 and are allowing just 5.75 goals per game.
The Blue Devils are 3-0 in NEC play for the first time ever and return to action at Monmouth and Mount St. Mary's this weekend.
