Senior Pair Earns NEC Honors
Seniors Ashley Perkoski and Erin DeLancey earned weekly honors from the NEC on Monday, 2/27.
The senior duo of Ashley Perkoski and Erin DeLancey earned weekly honors from the Northeast Conference on Monday afternoon. Perkoski earns NEC Player of the Week honors after leading the Blue Devil offense to 11 points in the victory over Bryant. DeLancey takes home NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors after anchoring the Blue Devil defense, which limited the Bulldogs to just five goals on Sunday.
Perkoski led the Blue Devil offense from her attack position on Sunday. The Newington, CT, native registered five assists and a goal to total six points in the victory. She contributed to 55% of Central's scores in the 11-5 victory. Perkoski also had two of the Blue Devils' 10 draw controls on the day.
She now has eight points on the season, including a team-high seven assists.
DeLancey posted an outstanding .643 save percentage in Sunday's, 11-5, victory over Bryant. The Saratoga Springs, NY, native made nine saves, including seven in the second half as Bryant tried to climb back into the game. DeLancey and the Blue Devils limited the Bulldogs to only five goals, which is the fewest Central has allowed in a game since beating St. Francis (PA), 17-3, during the 2008 season.
DeLancey has made nine saves in both games this season and currently sports a .439 save percentage.
The victory over Bryant was the first in program history. The Blue Devils are now 1-3 all-time against the Bulldogs.
The win also puts Central at 1-0 in NEC play for the first time since the 2006 season.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Sunday, March 4, at Iona. That game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
