DeLancey Earns Second NEC Weekly Honor
Senior goalkeeper Erin DeLancey was named NEC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time on Monday.
Central Connecticut senior goalkeeper Erin DeLancey was named Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. DeLancey anchored the Blue Devil defense in an 11-5 non-conference win against Manhattan College last Wednesday as Central remained undefeated at home.
DeLancey made seven saves in the victory over Manhattan, which brings her season total to 36. Through four games this season, DeLancey has posted a .507 save percentage and has recorded more saves (36) than goals allowed (35).
Over the last three games, DeLancey and the Blue Devil defense have limited their opponents to only 17 goals. None of those teams has scored more than seven goals against the Central keeper who has played every minute in net.
DeLancey was previously honored as NEC Defensive Player of the Week on February 27, after Central's 11-5 victory over Bryant in the conference opener.
DeLancey and the Blue Devils (2-2) travel to the West Coast next week for a three-game non-conference road swing. Central will play Fresno State, U.C. Davis and St. Mary's (CA) on the trip.
