Lacrosse Falls to UC Davis, 18-6
The Central Connecticut lacrosse team dropped its first game on a week long tour of California.
The Central Connecticut lacrosse team fell to UC Davis, 18-6, on Monday afternoon. The Blue Devils (2-3) battled back in the second half, but ultimately fell to the Aggies (4-3). Senior Ashley Perkoski had a pair of assists in the game.
The Blue Devils fell behind 8-1 in the first half with junior Betsy Vendel registering the only goal. Vendel scored unassisted at the 12:59 mark of the period.
The Aggies closed the half on a 6-0 run, which the Blue Devils quickly snapped in the second half.
Central scored 11 seconds into the second period. Perkoski found junior Mackenzy Ryan for the goal. It was the first goal of the game for Ryan and the first assist for Perkoski.
Sophomore Amanda Toke registered a goal at the 20:24 mark to cut the deficit to 10-3. Vendel recorded the assist on the play.
The Blue Devils posted back-to-back goals in the 49th minute of play with Ryan scoring on a free position shot and junior Meaghan McCurry scoring off a pass from senior Ashley Perkoski.
Central picked up its final goal of the game in the 56th minute with McCurry scoring off a pass from Toke.
McCurry and Ryan each had a pair of goals to finish with two points. Toke and Vendel each had a goal and an assist and Perkoski had a pair of assists to toal two points.
Senior Ashley Mara led all players with seven draw controls. She also posted four ground balls.
As a team, the Blue Devils controlled 20 draws compared to 12 for the Aggies.
DeLancey falls to 2-3 in the net on the season. She made nine saves in the loss.
The Blue Devils return to action on Thursday at Fresno State. That game will begin at 6 p.m. eastern time.
