Women's Basketball Returns to the Court on Sunday at Syracuse
Women's basketball travels to Syracuse, NY to take on Atlantic Coast Conference member, the Syracuse Orange, inside the Carrier Dome at 2:00 p.m.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team visits Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) member, the Syracuse Orange on Sunday, Dec. 4, in its first of six contests during the month of December. The Blue Devils will take the court against the Orange at 2:00 p.m. inside the Carrier Dome. CCSU heads into Sunday's match with an overall record of (1-5), and the 'Cuse hold a (5-3) record after eight games.

Previously For Both Teams • The Blue Devils are heading into Sunday's match at the Carrier Dome, coming off a, 80-72, loss against San Diego St. at the Seton Hall Thanksgiving Classic. Syracuse most recently defeted nationally ranked, #22, Michigan State, at home on Wednesday Nov. 30, 75-64.
Series History (0-2) • The Blue Devils are 0-2 all-time against the Orange of Syracuse. The Blue Devils most recent meeting with the ACC member came on Dec. 30, 2014 at Syracuse, with the Orange claiming the win, 74-43. The first meeting of the series came during the 1987-88 season with the Orange winning 79-69. CCSU is also 0-8 all-time against current members of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Last Timeout • The Central Connecticut women's basketball team fell to Mountain West Conference opponent, San Diego State, 80-62, in its final match of the Seton Hall Thanksgiving Classic on Sunday. Freshman Cebria Outlow led the Blue Devils in scoring with a career-high 16 points, and added six rebounds. Senior Aleah Epps chipped in 14 points and was selected to the All-Tournament Team. Central shot 19-55 (34.5%), and San Diego St. made 29-of-48 (60.4%) baskets overall. Central out-rebounded the Aztecs 32-30, led by Reynoso's double-double with 10 rebounds and career-high 12 points.
Scouting Syracuse • Four seniors and one freshman will be the probable starters for Sunday's match against Central. Three of the four veteran starters are averaging doubledigit scoring through the first six contests of the 2016- 17 campaign, led by Alexis Peterson, who is notching 22.8 per contest. Following Peterson, is red-shirt senior, Brittney Sykes, averaging 16.8 points, and 7.5 rebounds per game. In Wednesday's victory over #22 Michigan State, Peterson padded the stats sheet with 27 points, six rebounds, five steals, and four assists.
Last Meeting with the 'Cuse • Former Blue Devils, TeJahne Malone and Nicole Ferguson shared a team-high nine points in the game. Syracuse had four players score in double figures led by 15 from Diamond Henderson. The Blue Devils shot just 29.8% (17-57) from the field, but were 34.6% (9-26) from beyond the arc. The Orange were 42.9% from the field, 33.3% from deep and 74.1% from the line. Syracuse connected on 20-of-27 free throw attempts in the game.
Up Next For CCSU • Central will have a quick turnaround after visiting Syracuse, N.Y. on Sunday, as the hop back on the bus to head south for a Wednesday night showdown with the Hokies of Virginia Tech at 6:00 p.m.
