Women's Basketball Visits Mount St. Mary's Saturday
The CCSU women's basketball team travels to Emmitsburg, MD to take on the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. inside Knott Arena.

Previously For Both Teams • The Blue Devils are coming off a 59-45 setback to the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds at home last Monday afternoon. CCSU was 3-1 inside Detrick Gym on the season entering the contest, but only shot 36.0% (18-50) from the field and committed 19 turnovers to suffer their second home loss. Senior TeJahne Malone paced Central with a team-high 12 points. The Mount is coming off a 66-56 home win over defending NEC Champion St. Francis Brooklyn last Monday. The Mountaineers had four players in double-figures, led by Alexis Carter who had a team-high 18 pts.
Series History (11-22) • Tonight's game marks the 34th meeting all-time between the two teams at the Division I level. The Mount holds a commanding 22-11 lead in the series and has defeated the Blue Devils the last three straight seasons in Emmitsburg. Last season, the two teams split a pair of games with each team winning on its respective home courts. MSM won 54-50 on Jan. 12 before CCSU got revenge and topped the Mountaineers 60-49 on Feb. 7.
Piper vs. The Mount • Head Coach Beryl Piper is 7-6 all-time against Mount St. Mary's entering her ninth season at the helm of the Blue Devils. She is 2-4 facing the Mountaineers inside Knott Arena.
On The Road Again • Tonight's game marks the beginning of a tough three-game NEC road trip for the Blue Devils. After tonight's game in Emmitsburg, CCSU will head to Teaneck, NJ to face the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights on Monday (1/11) before traveling to Staten Island next Saturday (1/16) to play Wagner in the Spiro Center. It marks the second three game road trip for CCSU this season.
Scouting Mount St. Mary's • The Mountaineers are 3-10 on the season, 1-1 in NEC action and sport a 1-5 mark at home so far this year. They average 55.2 ppg and are led by Alexis Carter who averages 12.2 ppg. Carter likes to shoot the three although she is just 16-of-62 (25.8%) on the season. The Blue Devils will also have to keep an eye on Jessica Harris who averages 9.9 ppg and is the Mount's best three point shooter (32.2%). Carter is also MSM's best rebounder pulling down a team-high 6.4 rpg.
Up Next For CCSU • The Blue Devils will return to action next as they travel to Fairleigh Dickinson on Monday for a 7:00 p.m. tip. It marks the second of a tough three-game NEC road trip where CCSU will also travel to Wagner next Saturday.
