Men's and Women's Hoop Travel to NEC Basketball "Social" Media Day
Seniors Brandon Peel and TeJahne Malone along with head coaches Howie Dickenman and Beryl piper of the CCSU men's and women's basketball teams head to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY today for the fourth annual NEC "Social" Media Day.
Today, for the fourth straight year, the Northeast Conference (NEC) will ceremoniously tipoff its basketball season at Brooklyn's premier sports venue. The NEC and its ten member institutions will descend on Barclays Center for the fourth edition of NEC Basketball "Social" Media Day.
The #NECinNYC event is designed to be an interactive experience for fans to join the conversation on social media while watching the proceedings live and in HD on both NEC Front Row and ESPN3 beginning at 11 a.m. NEC commentators Dave Popkin, Tim Capstraw and Pam Roecker will host the telecast with Craig D'Amico manning the social media desk.

"NEC Basketball Social Media Day at Barclays Center is by far one of my favorite events of the year, as it shines a bright spotlight on the growth and excitement of NEC basketball in the biggest media center in the world," said Noreen Morris, NEC Commissioner. "The opportunity to partner with Barclays Center and ESPN creates a tremendous opportunity for us to celebrate the Northeast Conference and our men's and women's basketball programs, coaches and student-athletes. What better way to tip-off the season than with a first-class event in a state-of-the art facility."
Along with each NEC men's and women's basketball head coach, schools will also bring one player from each team to Barclays Center. Players and coaches will be interviewed during the telecast and made available to media attending the event. NEC preseason polls and all-conference teams will be announced, and a number of NEC hoops alumni will engage in a roundtable discussion.
The interactive nature of NEC "Social" Media Day will begin well in advance of the event. Fans can tweet questions for NEC coaches to @NECsports or by using the hashtag #NECinNYC. NEC Director of Social Media Ralph Ventre will engage fans during the telecast with the best tweets displayed on air. The most active and compelling tweeters will also have the opportunity to win NEC prize packs.
