
Women's Hoop Hosts Dartmouth In Final Non-Conference Contest Tuesday Night
The CCSU women's basketball team (2-8) hosts Dartmouth (4-10) on Tuesday night inside Detrick Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team (2-8) hosts Ivy League member Dartmouth (4-10) in the Blue Devils final non-conference contest of the 2015-16 season on Tuesday night. Tip-off between the Blue Devils and Big Green is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Detrick Gymnasium. Tickets can be purchased at CCSUTickets.com or at the box office upon entry. Tonight • The Central Connecticut women's basketball team (2-8) hosts Ivy League member Dartmouth (4-10) for its final non-conference game of the 2015-16 season on Tuesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Detrick Gymnasium. The Blue Devils are 2-1 at home this season and the Big Green sport a 2-5 mark on the road. This is CCSU's lone matchup of the season against an Ivy League opponent.
Previously For Both Teams • The Blue Devils are coming off a 63-48 setback on the road on Sunday, Dec. 20 to the Fordham Rams in the Bronx, NY. Senior Kayla Miller sunk a team-high 13 points, but the Blue Devils shot just 34.6% (18-52) in the game to suffer the loss to the Rams. Dartmouth is coming off a 60-54 road victory at Holy Cross back on Dec. 21. The Big Green enter tonight's contest on a two-game winning streak, also picking up a 60-47 victory over Niagara at home on Dec. 18.
Series History (0-6) • Tonight's game marks the seventh meeting all-time between the Blue Devils and Big Green at the Division I level. Central has yet to beat Dartmouth dropping all six prior contests. The two teams last met a decade ago during the 2005-06 campaign with the Big Green winning 83-57. Tonight's game also marks the first time head coach Beryl Piper will square-off with Dartmouth in her ninth season at the helm of the Blue Devils.
Scouting Dartmouth • The Big Green are 4-10 on the year and are currently on a two-game winning streak. They are 2-5 at home and 2-5 on the road. Dartmouth averages 52.4 ppg as a team this season and they are led by Lakin Roland who averages 14.1 ppg. Roland is the only Big Green scorer averaging in double-figures with the next highest scorer being Kate Letkewicz at 9.6 ppg. Both Roland and Letkewicz like to shoot the three as they combine for 140 of Dartmouth's 221 total attempts from beyond the arc. Roland also controls the glass for Dartmouth averaging 8.2 rpg. CCSU will also have to keep an eye on Daisy Jordan who is Dartmouth's big inside player.
Up Next For CCSU • Central will open Northeast Conference play on Jan. 2 as they travel to Bryant for a showdown in the Chace Athletic Center with the Bullldogs starting at 1 p.m. The Blue Devils and Bulldogs tied for the regular season crown last season and were picked second and third in this season's NEC Preseason Coaches Poll.
