Softball Splits Doubleheader with Quinnipiac
Central Connecticut moves to 19-27 on the season and 7-9 in the Northeast Conference after splitting a doubleheader with Quinnipiac. Quinnipiac #$%^moves to 24-22 on the season and 11-5 in the Northeast Conference. Central Connecticut was led at the plate by junior Katherine Knowles who went #$%^two for three and hit two home runs in the game one victory. Central Connecticut's Elizabeth Montemurro pitched a complete game six hitter allowing no #$%^earned runs in the game one victory.

The Bobcats opened the scoring in game one in the top of the first inning scoring two unearned runs the second of which coming on an RBI single to center field by senior Emily Bellush.
Central would score two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Senior Jaclyn Logan led off the inning with a single and would score on an error by the Bobcats third baseman. Sophomore Sarah Vlahos would then score on the RBI single by junior Kendall Sours to make the score 2-2 at the end of the second inning.
Central Connecticut would hold Quinnipiac scoreless in the top of the third inning. In the Central Connecticut half of the third Knowles would hit a solo home run to center field to give the Blue Devils the 3-2 lead at the end of three complete innings.
Central Connecticut continued the offence in the bottom of the fourth inning for two more runs on a two out two RBI single by senior Tiffany Erickson.
Knowles would hit her second home run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning to conclude the scoring in game one. Central Connecticut finished game one with six runs on seven hits and two errors to defeat Quinnipiac who finished the game with two runs on six hits and two errors.
In game two Central Connecticut would never lead after Quinnipiac took the lead in the top of the second inning scoring four runs taking advantage of three singles and a Central Connecticut error to make the Bobcat lead 4-0.
Central Connecticut's freshman Sarah Emery would enter the game in the top of the third inning in relief of Montemurro and would pitch five innings of solid relief allowing only one earned run on two hits.
Central Connecticut scored its first two runs in the bottom of the third inning on the RBI single by sophomore Rebecca Mussatti and a sacrifice fly by Logan.
The Bobcats would score their final run on a home run to left field by senior Heather Maffeo to lead off the top of the fourth inning.
Central Connecticut would rally in the bottom of the seventh inning scoring on a RBI single by freshman Kelsey Barlow and a sacrifice fly by Knowles to score two runs and cut the Bobcat lead to 5-4 but the Blue Devils would not score again and would finish the game with four runs on seven hits and four errors in the loss to Quinnipiac who would finish with five runs on five hits and one error
Central Connecticut will return to action on the road tomorrow Sunday, May 2 at 12:00 p.m. when they travel to Teaneck, NJ to take on the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson.
