In game one the Seahawks opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with a pair of runs to take a 2-0 lead. Junior Amanda Garcia's one out double down the left field line drove in both Seahawks runners.
Wagner freshman right-handed pitcher Judy Betz carried a no hitter into the fourth inning before Central Connecticut senior Sara Budrick singled to left field to lead off the bottom of the fourth.
The Blue Devils threatened in the bottom of the sixth inning with back-to-back two out singles from junior Katherine Knowles and Budrick. The Seahawks were able to escape the threat when freshman left fielder Krysta Fauria made a diving catch on a line drive down the left field line off the bat of senior Jaclyn Logan to end the inning. Central Connecticut's only run of the game came in the bottom of the seventh inning on a home run by freshman Kelsey Barlow, her second of the season.
In game two the Seahawks scored first with in the top of the third inning. Central Connecticut answered quickly in the bottom of the third inning when sophomore Sarah Vlahos homered to left field to lead off the inning. Wagner scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning to take a 3-1 lead.
The Blue Devils rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game 3-3 and send the game into extra innings. Sophomore Rebecca Mussatti's RBI double to right centerfield scored junior Kendall Sours with the tying run.
A solid Blue Devil defensive effort in extra innings contributed to the Central 5-4 victory in 10 innings. Mussati, the last out of the previous inning, was placed at second base due to the NCAA tiebreak rule. She advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Budrick. Wagner elected to intentionally walk the bases loaded to set up a force play, but Mussatti scored on a sacrifice fly to centerfield by Barlow for the 5-4 victory.
Central Connecticut will return to action Sunday, March 28 at 12:00 p.m. for a doubleheader with Mount St. Mary's on the CCSU Softball Field.
