Central Softball Drops Home Decision to Connecticut on Wednesday
Freshman Kelsey Barlow hit a solo home run but the Central Connecticut State University softball team dropped a 8-2 decision at home to the University of Connecticut on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss the Blue Devils drop to 9-15 overall. The Huskies improve to 9-16 overall on the season.

Central took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on an
RBI double by junior Erin Kelley. She scored
sophomore Sarah
Vlahos who had walked to lead off the inning.
UConn took a 4-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning. With one
out and the bases loaded, Julianne Towers hit a grand slam off the
left field foul pole to give the Huskies their first lead of the
game.
The Huskies added a single run in the top of the sixth inning.
Central answered in the bottom of the inning. Freshman Kelsey Barlow hit a
solo home run of the scoreboard in right center field to cut the
UConn lead to 5-2. UConn scored three more in the top of the
seventh to stretch the lead to 8-2.
Kelley and Barlow each drove in a run for the Blue Devils in the
loss. Kelley and senior Tiffany Erickson each had a
double while Barlow hit her team-best fifth home run of the
season.
The Blue Devils return to action on the road at Sacred Heart on
Friday, April 2. They will begin a Northeast Conference
doubleheader against the Pioneers beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday's
doubleheader against Manhattan has been moved to a home game, and
will begin at 11 a.m. in New Britain.
