Softball Team Drops 4-2 Home Decision to Iona on Wednesday
Senior Sara Budrick drove in a pair of runs but the Central Connecticut softball team dropped a 4-2 decision to Iona at home on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss the Blue Devils drop to 13-21 with the loss. Iona improves to 16-14 on the season with the victory. Central returns to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Francis (PA).

decision to Iona at home on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss the
Blue Devils drop to 13-21 with the loss. Iona improves to 16-14 on
the season with the victory. Central returns to action on Saturday

Iona took a 1-0 lead with a single run in the top of the second
inning. Chelsea Sheehan doubled home a run to give the visitors
the 1-0 lead.
The Blue Devils took a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning when junior Kat
Knowles doubled in a pair of runs with one out. Kendall
Sours and Becca Mussati each singled in the inning and both
scored on the double by Knowles.
The Gaels tied the game at 2-2 when Erin Kyle singled home a run in
the top of the sixth. They took the lead in extra innings with a
single run in the top of the eighth inning. Melanie Gettins and
Sheehan each drove in a run to give Iona the 4-2 lead.
Budrick finished the game with two hits and the two RBI.
The Blue Devils return to action Saturday, Apr. 17 on the road at
St. Francis (PA) beginning at 1 p.m.
