Softball Takes Doubleheader at Hartford
Central Connecticut took advantage of six home runs to take both ends of a doubleheader from Hartford. Central Connecticut would only need five #$%^innings in the first game of the pair to beat the Hawks by a score of 10-1. The Hawks never led in the second half of the doubleheader but made for #$%^the #$%^game in the bottom of the seventh inning scoring three runs. The late inning rally however would not be enough to top Central making the final score #$%^7-6 #$%^in the Blue Devils favor. The Blue Devils improve to 18-26 on the season while the Hawks of Hartford fall to 15-18 on the year. Senior Jaclyn Logan #$%^led #$%^the Blue Devils with three home runs on the afternoon driving in eight runs.

In game one the Blue Devils started hitting quickly scoring in the top of the first inning when the first four batters led off with singles. Northeast Conference rookie of the week freshman Kelsey Barlow then came to the plate with the bases loaded and hit a grand slam home run to left center field to make the Blue Devil lead 5-0 with the Hawks still to bat in the bottom of the first.
The Hawks would score their lone run in the bottom of the second inning on a RBI single down the left field line.
The Blue Devils would only score again in the top of the fifth inning when senior Sara Budrick led off the inning with an RBI double to left center field. Budrick would then score on Logan's first home run of the afternoon to center field making the Blue Devils lead 7-1. Sophomore Sarah Vlahos would also homer in the inning to left field followed by back to back doubles by junior Kendall Sours and freshman Macy Stefanski. The Blue Devils would finish game one of the doubleheader with 10 runs on 13 hits and one error to defeat Hartford with one run on five hits and no errors.
In game two Central Connecticut would never trail after scoring two runs in the top of the first inning on Logan's second home run of the afternoon scoring sophomore Rebecca Mussatti who singled through the right side of the infield to lead off the first.
Central Connecticut continued the offence with a display of power in the top of the third inning with Budrick's home run to left field scoring Mussatti who started the hitting with a double to left center field.
The Blue Devils took the 4-0 lead into the bottom of the third inning when the Hawks would answer for three runs of their own on back to back RBI triples followed by a RBI single to left field to make the CCSU lead 4-3 at the end of three innings.
Central Connecticut would score three more runs in the top of the fifth inning on Logan's three RBI home run to left center her third of the afternoon.
Hartford would score three more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to cut the Central lead down to a run. Junior pitcher Elizabeth Montemurro ended the rally by getting two ground ball outs to end the game. Central Connecticut would take game two with seven runs on nine hits and no errors to defeat Hartford who would the game with six runs on nine hits and no errors.
Central Connecticut will return to action Saturday, May 1 at 1:00 pm against the Bobcats of Quinnipiac.
