Softball Splits Doubleheader at Robert Morris
Central Connecticut softball moves to 15-25 on the season and 6-6 in the Northeast Conference after splitting a doubleheader with Robert Morris. #$%^Robert Morris moves to 19-15 on the season and 9-4 in the Northeast Conference with the split. Central Connecticut was led by junior Katherine #$%^Knowles who went 4-8 on the day with a home run and two doubles with four RBI. Senior Sara Budrick also added a two home runs and four RBI on the #$%^afternoon for the Blue Devils.

Central Connecticut was led by junior Katherine Knowles who went 4-8 on the day with a home run and two doubles with four RBI. Senior Sara Budrick also added a two home runs and four RBI on the afternoon for the Blue Devils.
In game one CCSU led off the top of the first inning with three straight hits starting with sophomore Rebecca Mussatti who singled to center field and was followed by back to back home runs by Budrick and Knowles to start the CCSU rally. Central Connecticut would end the top of the first inning with four runs. Robert Morris was able to score a run in the bottom of the first inning and cut the Central Connecticut lead to 4-1.
Senior Tiffany Erickson singled to left field in the top of the fourth inning to score sophomore Sarah Vlahos who reached base on a double to right field. Central Connecticut would score six runs in the top of the fifth inning to finish the game with 11 runs on 14 hits and two errors to defeat RMU who had three runs on six hits and two errors.
In game two Central Connecticut took a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two out two RBI home run to right center field to score Knowles who reached base on a single to left field.
The Blue Devils took a 3-1 lead into the fourth inning but the Colonials were able to tie the game at three on a lead of home run and an RBI single.
Central Connecticut scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning on a RBI single to left field by Vlahos and an error by the Colonials second baseman to score freshman Sarah Emery who pinch ran for senior Jaclyn Logan. Logan reached base on a single down the left field line to lead off the inning. The Blue Devils would add another run in the top of the seventh inning but would three run lead would not be enough to hold off the Colonials rally in the bottom of the seventh inning scoring three runs on a two out three RBI home run to center field to send the game to an extra inning.
Robert Morris would hold the Blue Devils scoreless in the top of the eight inning and would score game winning run in the bottom of the eight inning on an RBI double to down the left field line to finish the game with seven runs on 13 hits and two errors to defeat CCSU who would finish with six runs on 10 hits and no errors.
Central Connecticut will return to play Thursday, April 22 against Holy Cross in New Britain at 3:00 p.m.
