
Patrick Sellers Introduced as Men's Basketball Head Coach
Central Connecticut State University introduced Patrick Sellers as the 11th head coach of the CCSU men's basketball program. Sellers, a 1991 graduate of CCSU, was an assistant coach for the Blue Devils when they made trips to the NCAA Tournament in 2000 and 2002.

"We are pleased to welcome back Mr. Sellers to the Blue Devil family, and we are counting on his leadership to help us rebuild our men's basketball program," said CCSU President Zulma R. Toro.
"Patrick's experience in coaching is what we were looking for," according to Tom Pincince, interim director of Athletics. "His leadership qualities, vision and passion were evident throughout the interview process. He knows what it takes to be successful at CCSU and what the experience of being a Blue Devil does for our student-athletes."

I have always had a special place in my heart for Central," Sellers said. "I look forward to adding to the successful legacy of Central Connecticut basketball and I am excited to get to work with our student-athletes."
Sellers began his collegiate coaching career at CCSU in 1999. During his four seasons at Central, the Blue Devils won 81 games overall and went 57-19 in Northeast Conference play with a pair of regular season crowns.
Sellers joined the men's basketball program at the University of Connecticut from 2004-10, serving as an assistant coach for the last three seasons. Sellers spent a season at UMass in 2003-04 and was at Hofstra University (2011-13) where he was interim head coach in 2013. He made a pair of stops in the Big East with Creighton University (2013-15) and DePaul University (2015-17). Sellers spent two additional seasons in the NEC at Fairleigh Dickinson University from 2017-19. The Knights shared a regular season championship and advanced to the 2019 NCAA Tournament during his final season. His most recent stop was at Fairfield University from 2019-21. He helped the Stags to double-figure win totals in back-to-back seasons and advance to the MAAC Tournament championship game in 2020-21.
Sellers, who graduated with a degree in accounting, is a native of South Carolina. While playing for CCSU, he was a team captain and earned East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 1991.
He played professionally in the British Basketball League for three seasons before embarking on his coaching career.
