
Men's Basketball Faces Army West Point in Bubbleville on Friday

Central Connecticut is back in action on Friday when it faces Army West Point at 2:00 p.m. in Bubbleville at the Mohegan Sun Arena. The game will stream on FloHoops. The Blue Devils fell to UConn in the opener on Wednesday, while Army downed Merchant Marine.

CCSU shot 53.8 percent (14-of-26) from the field in the opening half, including 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from the arc as they kept the opener at UConn close in the early going. The Huskies would force 12 turnovers by the Blue Devils and shoot 59 percent from the field in the second half to pull away.
Sophomore Myles Baker scored 17 points to lead the Blue Devils. He was 7-of-11 from the field and 2-of-3 from the Arc. Junior Karrington Wallace added a career-high 14 points and was 8-of-8 at the foul line. Sophomore Jamir Reed added 14 points off the bench as well. Central finished the game 26-of-52 (.500) from the floor and hit 8-of-17 (.471) from three-point range. The Blue Devils were 15-of-23 (.652) from the foul line.
Army downed Merchant Marine, 93-32, tying the single-game record for margin of victory at Christl Arena with the 61-point win. Chris Mann scored a team-high 14 points, while Josh Caldwell added 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. Thirteen different players recorded a point for the Black Knights in total.
QUICK NOTES
- CCSU is playing at Mohegan Sun Arena for the second straight season. Central went 0-2 in 2019-20 at the Air Force Reserve Tip Off Tournament. With a win, the Blue Devils would get a win at Mohegan Sun Aren for the first time since Nov. 13, 2010 (64-62 vs. Hartford).
- The Blue Devils have won the the last three meetings against the Black Knights, but the programs have not met since Nov. 19, 2011.
- All nine players who got into the game for CCSU on Wednesday scored a point.
- Wallace finished 3-of-4 from the field and was 8-of-8 at the foul line. He added two blocked shots
- Reed was 3-for-3 from three-point range in the opening half and finished the game 4-for-4.
- Junior Nigel Scantlebury had a team-high five assists and scored four points in his first game at CCSU. He was joined in the starting lineup by fellow first-year Blue Devil, junior Tre Mitchell.
