Men's Basketball Stopped at LIU Brooklyn Thursday night
CCSU closes the regular season at home against Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
The Central Connecticut men's basketball team fell at LIU Brooklyn, 84-55, on Thursday night in Northeast Conference action at the Steinberg Wellness Center. Junior Jamir Coleman led CCSU with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The Blue Devils slip to 11-19 overall and 5-12 in the NEC.
Sophomore Kashaun Hicks and freshman Ian Krishnan each added nine points. Hicks had seven rebounds, while freshman Karrington Wallace had eight points and six rebounds.
Central shot 19-of-59 (.322) from the field and and was 4-of-12 (.333) from the arc. Centeral went 13-of-14 (.929) at the foul line and had a 45-39 rebounding edge.

After a jumper by junior Jamir Coleman tied the game, LIU Brooklyn went on a 15-0 run. A three-pointer by Raul Frias put the Blackbirds ahead by double-digits. LIU held Central scoreless for over four minutes and Ty Flowers' three-pointer pushed the LIU lead to 23-8 midway through the opening period.
The CCSU deficit grew to 43-19 after a 12-2 LIU run over a nearly four-minute span. A three-pointer by Ashtyn Bradley capped the LIU run with 2:56 to go in the half.
The Blackbirds would push the lead to 49-23 at halftime on Raul Frias' fifth three-pointer of the period. LIU shot 11-of-20 (.550) from the three-point arc in the opening half.
Central shot just 7-of-22 (.318) from the field in the opening period and was just 1-of-4 from the three-point arc. CCSU was 8-of-8 from the foul line in the opening half and held a 17-14 rebounding edge, but was hindered by 15 turnovers.
The Blue Devils opened the second half just 1-of-11 from the floor while the Blackbirds scored 10 unanswered points. A dunk by Flowers made it 61-28 before a turnaround jumper in the lane by freshman Karrington Wallace ended the run.
Central would be unable to get closer than 71-46 the rest of the way after a basket by Coleman with 6:49 to play.
Freshman Thai Segwai went on a personal 7-0 run for the Blue Devils to get CCSU within 80-55 with 2:23 remaining, but LIU would score the game's final four points.
Ashtyn Bradley led LIU with 18 points on six three-pointers. The Blackbirds shot 33-of-73 (.452) from the field and 16-of-35 (.457) from the arc for the game.
