CCSU Continues at Grand Prix Saturday
Two more Blue Devils competed at the Austin Grand Prix in Austin, TX on Saturday.
Central Connecticut swimming and diving senior Kristina Gulia finished Friday morning's 200m long course breaststroke preliminary in 27th place overall with her time of 2:46.08 at the Austin Grand Prix in Austin, TX. With her performance, Gulia qualified to participate in the Austin Grand Prix finals where she finished 30th overall in 2:45.58.
"Any time a student-athlete can get a second swim at a national-level meet it speaks volumes about that athlete's ability to race," head coach Bill Ball said on Friday morning. "We're proud of her performance and are excited about the finals on Friday night."
On Saturday, freshman Christine Rasile, who has enjoyed an impressive inaugural season at CCSU thus far, competed in the 50m long course freestyle preliminary in which she placed 47th overall out of 100 swimmers with her time of 27.76. Rasile also competed Friday in the 100m long course freestyle. She placed 81st overall with her time of 1:01.12.
Kellen Power also raced the 50m long course freestyle Saturday, the senior touched the wall in 29.15. Power also competed on Friday, clocking a 1:06.93 in the 100m long course butterfly for a 70th-place overall finish.
The Blue Devils will wrap up competition at the Austin Grand Prix on Sunday. Gulia is set to compete in the 100m long course breaststroke and the 200m long course IM.
