Goldman Wins 1-Meter at Blue Devil Diving Invite
The Blue Devils competed against Bryant and Fairfield on Saturday at the Jack Suydam Natatorium.
The Central Connecticut women's diving team competed at the Blue Devil Diving Invitational on Saturday at the Jack Suydam Natatorium in New Britain, CT. Jessica Goldman was the highest-placing Blue Devil. She claimed the win in the 1-meter event, registering an impressive score of 247.00, a new career-best for the sophomore.
The Blue Devils claimed three of the top four spots in the 1-meter. Separated by Ashlee Steinberger from Fairfield in second, sophomore Kaitlyn Beaver finished with a score of 202.30 for third place. Junior Kaitlyn Dwyer came in less than a point behind with a season-best score of 201.45 in fourth place.
From the 3-meter board, the Blue Devils claimed second, fourth and fifth with two-time NEC Diver of the Week Goldman once again placing atop the CCSU squad. The sophomore tallied 218.40 points for the silver and Dwyer came in fourth registering 196.20.
Beaver, who finished fourth in the prelims, was edged by Dwyer by just under three points in the finals, claiming fifth with 193.60.
The Blue Devil swimming and diving team will host Bryant and New Hampshire on Saturday, Nov. 2 in New Britain. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
