Repass Selected to Enfield Athletic Hall Of Fame
Former Blue Devil and Fermi High School standout to be honored on Sept. 6
The Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame has announced former Blue Devil standout swimmer, Tammie Repass, as an honoree in this year's induction class. Repass will be inducted on Saturday night, September 6.
Repass graduated from CCSU in 2003 as one of the most decorated swimmers in program history. She was a two-time NEC Swimmer of the Year (2001, 2003). She won the 200 yard butterfly, 400 yard individual medley and 500 yard freestyle at the NEC Championships her senior year (2003). Repass went on to finish her career as the second most decorated swimmer in NEC history with 18 total gold-medals, 11 of which were individual gold medals and seven more as a member of winning CCSU relay teams.
She qualified for the NCAA championships in 2002 where she swam against the best competition across the United States. She finished 24th best in the nation in the 200 yard butterfly, 35th in the 500 yard freestyle and 51st in the 200 meter freestyle.
She was ranked 12th in the United States and 51st in the world in the 200 meter butterfly in 2002. She later went on to compete in the 200 meter butterfly at the 2004 U.S. Olympic team trials in Long Beach, CA.
Repass had many amazing performances while she was a Blue Devil, but one of her best performances came at the 2002 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in the 200 yard butterfly. She swam to a time of 1:59.82, qualified for the NCAA Championships and broke not only the ECAC meet record, but also the University of Pittsburgh' Trees' Pool record, a time of 1:59.85, which had stood for 14 years prior. She was then tabbed the 2002 ECAC Women's Swimmer of the Meet.
She is still the individual record holder in two events in CCSU's women's swimming and diving history. She holds onto the 200 yard butterfly record where she swam at a 1:59.82 clip and the 400 yard IM record at a 4:24.02 pace.
Before Central, Repass attended Fermi High School in Enfield, CT and led her high school team to three straight CCC East swimming championships. Along the way she broke six school records and won the Class L title in the 100 meter butterfly in 1995 and the 500 meter freestyle in 1997.
The 19th annual Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame induction dinner to honor Repass as well as other outstanding athletes, coaches, teams, and programs of Enfiled takes place on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 6:30 pm at the Oak Ridge Country Club in Feeding Hills, MA.
