Women’s Swim & Dive Signs Four to Class of 2018
Four student-athletes have committed to join the 2014 swimming and diving roster.
Central Connecticut swimming and diving Head Coach Bill Ball announced the signing of four student-athletes to the class of 2018 this week. Katie MacDonnell, Maddison Garber, Maeve Awiszus and Lauren Czulewicz will join the Blue Devil squad in 2014.
MacDonnell, an Uxbridge, MA native, is a member of the Crimson Aquatic club. She specializes in the backstroke, butterfly and IM events. During this past long-course season, MacDonnell qualified for the Spring NCSA Junior National meet.
"We are excited to welcome Katie to CCSU," Ball said." We expect that she will make an immediate impact in the backstroke, butterfly and IM events at the NEC Championship."
Garber hails from Milford, MA and is also a member of the Crimson Aquatic club. She specializes in the breaststroke events and participated in the long course NCSA Junior Nationals this past summer.
"Maddi will look to be an "A" finalist and greatly impact the CCSU medley relays at the NEC Championship." Ball said.
Awiszus is another member of the Crimson Aquatic Club and comes to CCSU from Andover, MA. She specializes in the backstroke and freestyle events and competed in both the short course and long course NCSA Junior meets in 2013.
"Maeve has already raced times that will have her competing for individual championships," Ball said. "She will undoubtedly strengthen an already deep freestyle and backstroke corps."
Czulewicz is a native of Norwalk, CT and is a member of the Zeus Swim Team. She specializes in the freestyle events and looks to make an impact both individually and as a member of the CCSU relay squads.
"Lauren will immediately help the freestyle relays at the NEC Championship, as well as score valuable points in her individual events." Ball said.
These four talented student-athletes will join the ten additions from this past year and look to strengthen the core of CCSU swimming and diving.
"With these additions to the class of 2018, we look to continue to be one of the top programs in the Northeast Conference," Ball said. "We also hope for continued appearances at the USA National Championship." Ball said.
