Swimming & Diving Voted 2nd in NEC Preseason Poll
The Blue Devils were voted to finish second this season in the NEC by the league's coaches.
The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team was voted to finish second this season in the Northeast Conference in the annual preseason coaches poll, the league announced Friday. The Blue Devils finished fourth in the conference last year.
CCSU ranked tied for second in the poll with four-time defending NEC Champion Saint Francis U., each squad earned two first-place votes.
The Blue Devils are returning 14 members of last year's squad, including NEC Diving Champion Jessica Goldman. Goldman placed first in both the 3-meter and 1-meter events at the 2013 NEC Championships as a freshman and earned NEC Diver of the Meet for her impressive performance. Goldman also broke both the 1-meter and 3-meter freshman records in her inaugural season.
In addition to her CCSU freshman records, Goldman also broke the previous NEC six-dive record of 248.40 set in 2011.
The Blue Devils return to the pool this weekend at the Sonny Werblin Invitational hosted by Rutgers University. The action kicks off at 4:15 p.m. and fans can follow the action via live stats.
