Goldman Named NEC Diver of the Week
Sophomore Jessica Goldman demonstrated an impressive season-opening performance this weekend.
Jessica Goldman of the Central Connecticut swimming and diving team was named Northeast Conference Diver of the Week for her impressive performances from both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards this week, the NEC announced Tuesday.
Goldman, the reigning NEC Champion, began her sophomore campaign right where she left off last season. Goldman swept the diving competition this past weekend in the Blue Devils' dual meet with LIU Post. The Blue Devils entered three divers in the meet and each competed for the top spot.
Goldman topped her teammates from the 1-meter board, registering an impressive score of 240.35, just 5.2 points off of the CCSU freshman record which Goldman set last year. She also claimed the victory in the 3-meter competition, registering a score of 242.10, a full 25 points higher than the second-place recipient.
The Blue Devils kick back into action this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18-19, at the Sonny Werblin Invitational hosted by Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ.
