Healy, Toke Named Lacrosse Captains
Seniors Claire Healy and Amanda Toke will serve as team captains this season for the women's lacrosse team.
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse program has named seniors Amanda Toke and Claire Healy as team captains for the 2014 season.
"The two complement each other as the leaders of our squad. They are fantastic liaisons between the coaching staff and student-athletes because they are so well respected by their peers," head coach Laura Campbell said upon making the announcement public.
Toke was a First Team All-Northeast Conference selection as a junior and also earned Northeast Conference Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete accolades last spring. She played in all 18 games registering 35 points, 29 ground balls, 36 draw controls and 23 caused turnovers.
"Amanda leads by example in every moment with her work ethic, competitiveness, commitment and maturity," Campbell said.
Healy started all 18 games for the Blue Devils last season and recorded 28 points, including a team-high nine free position goals. Her 45.7% shooting percentage ranked third on the team and her 21 goals were fifth on the squad.
"Claire is an excellent vocal leader, motivator, and an energizer for the team," Campbell added.
The Blue Devils will open the 2014 season on Feb. 22 against La Salle. That game is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. start at Arute Field.
