Blue Devils Drop Home Decision to Bryant on Friday
Toke scores 100th career point on Friday
Senior Amanda Toke became the ninth Blue Devil women's lacrosse player to reach 100 career points on Friday in a 16-6 home loss to league-leader Bryant. The loss drops the Blue Devils to 5-9 overall and 2-3 in Northeast Conference play. The Bulldogs are now 11-3 overall and 5-0 in league play after the win.
Bryant began the game by scoring the game's first nine goals to build the first half lead. Sophomore Falynn McCartney scored the first goal of the game for the Blue Devils and then Toke recorded her 100th career point with a goal to make it 9-2. Bryant scored again before halftime to make it 10-2 at the break.
With Central down 12-2 Toke scored her 30th goal of the season, and second of the game, to make it 12-3 with 19:28 left in the game. McCartney's second goal of the game made it 12-4. It was her 25th goal of the year. She would add two more including one that cut the score to 16-6 with under three minutes to play.
McCartney ended the game with four goals, while Toke added a pair. Junior Morgan Tullar made 11 saves in goal for the Blue Devils.
Bryant was led by Lisa Vendel, Katherine Keckeisen and Olivia McCarthy who each had three goals. Lauren Descalzo and Kimberley Sniffen added two apiece. Brianna Watt had nine saves in the victory.
Freshman Marissa Soto controlled a team-high three draws. She also picked up a ground ball and caused a turnover.
Senior Cierra Ward, freshman Courtney McPartland and Toke each caused two turnovers in the game. Ward also scooped up a team-high three ground balls, as did sophomore Elyse Malecki.
Malecki also recorded the assist on CCSU's fourth goal of the game.
The Blue Devils are off until next Friday, April 25 when they host Sacred Heart at 4 p.m. on Arute Field on Senior Day. Central will honor its five seniors prior to the game's start.
