Lacrosse Announces 2014 Schedule
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team will play a 16-game regular season in 2014. The Northeast Conference Tournament will be held on May 2 & 4 at the home field of the highest seed.
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse program has announced a 16-game regular season schedule for the 2014 campaign. First-year head coach Laura Campbell and her squad will play nine home games at Arute Field, including the season opener on February 22.
"As a program, we are very excited for the 2014 schedule," Campbell said. "I think we have a competitive non-conference schedule in February and March that will prepare us for the challenges of the NEC in April and May. Obviously, the opportunity to play nine home games at Arute Field is something our team is very excited about as we look to continue the growth of CCSU women's lacrosse."
Coming off the most successful season in program history, the Blue Devils open the 2014 campaign with back-to-back home games in late February. La Salle (A-10) will visit Arute Field on Feb. 22 and Iona (MAAC) will travel to New Britain on Feb. 26.
The Blue Devils open March with non-conference road games at Hofstra (CAA), Siena (MAAC), Stony Brook (AE) and Brown (IVY).
The month closes with home games against Vermont (AE) on March 22, Lafayette (PL) on 26th and Howard (MEAC) on the 29th.
The month of April brings the start of Northeast Conference play, including four home games at Arute Field.
NEC action kicks off with a road trip to Mount St. Mary's and Wagner on April 4 and 6, respectively.
The Blue Devils then host four straight conference opponents with Saint Francis U (April 11), Robert Morris (April 13), Bryant (April 18) and Sacred Heart (April 25) visiting New Britain.
The regular season finale comes on April 27 when the Blue Devils visit LIU Brooklyn.
The top-four regular season finishers will qualify for the NEC Tournament, which will feature two semifinal games on Friday, May 2 and a championship on Sunday, May 4. All three NEC Tournament contests will be played on the home field of the #1 seed.
The CCSU women's lacrosse program has set or tied the program record for wins each of the last four seasons. The Blue Devils ended the 2013 campaign with a 9-9 record and the program's first NEC Tournament appearance.
