Men's Basketball Announces 2015-16 Non-Conference Slate
Blue Devils host CT6 Classic on Nov. 13 and will face Hartford.
Central Connecticut has released the non-conference slate for its men's basketball team it was announced on Wednesday. Head coach Howie Dickenman and the Blue Devils will play five home games in non-conference action, including hosting the Connecticut 6 Classic to open the season.
"Every year the schedule has become more challenging," said Dickenman. "We play schools from the American Athletic Conference (UConn), Big 10 (Rutgers), ACC (Boston College) and the Atlantic 10 (Fordham)."

"We are very pleased with the caliber of our upcoming men's basketball schedule," said CCSU Director of Athletics Paul Schlickmann. "With a slate that includes highly competitive non-conference games against regional opponents from the ACC, Big Ten, American Athletic Conference and A-10, hosting the Connecticut 6 and contests versus some traditional regional programs, this is the most exciting schedule in recent memory. It will prove challenging for our program, positive for the Northeast Conference, and engaging and accessible for our fans."
The CT6 Classic will be played at CCSU to open the year on Friday, Nov. 13 and the Blue Devils will play Hartford. They will then travel to Penn on Nov. 15 to face the Quakers at the historic Palestra. The Blue Devils will also travel to face Boston College on Nov. 19.
Central will return home for a pair of contests before embarking on a three-game road swing. The Blue Devils will host Binghamton on Nov. 24 and then host Maine on Nov. 29.
In a seven-day span, the Blue Devils will travel to Brown (Dec. 2), Fordham (Dec. 5) and Rutgers (Dec. 8). Following a break during final exams, the Blue Devils will host UMass Lowell on Dec. 18. For the second consecutive year CCSU will face Connecticut with the game being played on Dec. 23. After a brief holiday break, the Blue Devils will close out the non-conference portion of the schedule at home against Yale on Dec. 30.
"The consensus of the head coaches in the Northeast Conference unanimously agree, and believe, that the NEC overall has had its best recruiting class in years," added Dickenman. "With seven recruits and six returning players, I anticipate and expect an exciting 2015-16 season for our loyal Blue Devils fans."
Dickenman is entering his 20th season and is the Northeast Conference's winningest active head coach.
